Computer club warns of data breach

The Sun City Computer Club sent an alert to its members regarding a serious data breach at LastPass, a major software provided of Password Management software. The Computer Club featured password managers at a recent club monthly meeting.

Village re-instates tree replacement program

The Village of Huntley has reestablished its tree replacement program for 2023 and beyond. With $50,000 in the FY23 budget the village is anticipating an increase in participation as compared to 2022. There were only nine applications for tree replacements in 2022.

Traffic feasibilty study has village circling around Dundee/Kreutzer roundabout

Tim Farrell, Village Director of Public Works and Engineering, presented a resolution at the January 12 meeting of the Village Board to “authorize a $70,000 Professional Services Agreement with the Christopher B. Burke Engineering firm for a feasibility study for a roundabout at the intersection of Huntley-Dundee Road and Kreutzer Road.”

Amazon Pharmacy introduces a program to provide unlimited prescription medications for $5 a month

Amazon just recently announced the arrival of a new Prime membership benefit from Amazon Pharmacy called RxPass.

The new program offers patients affordable access to commonly prescribed generic medications that treat more than 80 common health conditions, according to Amazon Regional PR Specialist Erica Duncan.

According to Timothy Farrell, Village Director of Public Works, “the new well and treatment plant will be located roughly 1,000 feet east and 200 feet north of the current terminus of Regency Parkway.”

For those unfamiliar with House Bill 3447 (HB 3447), one of its goals would be to reclassify small amounts of drug possession, including heroin and cocaine, from a low-level Class 4 felony to a Class A misdemeanor.

MG Logistics planning new industrial building

Charles Nordman, Director of Development Services for the Village of Huntley, introduced a proposal at the September 8 Village Board meeting for “a conceptual review for the construction of a 213,745 square foot industrial building on the roughly 30-acre site located immediately south of the Village Green shopping center and north of Freeman Road.”

D158 launches student helpline and anti-bullying resource

HUNTLEY — A brand new Student Helpline for all students and parents of Huntley Community School District 158 (D158) has been developed for individuals to have the opportunity to report instances of bullying, mental health concerns, and unsafe situations in schools, said the district in a press release statement.

The platform, which was customized in partnership with SmartSocial, allows for two-way communications between staff and students via text messaging.

Bright Program celebrates inauguration

On Aug. 23, the Pioneer Center for Human Services and the Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association (NISRA) celebrated the inauguration of the Huntley Bright Program through a ribbon-cutting ceremony, which also included a multi-chamber mixer that was hosted by the Huntley Area Chamber of Commerce.

Village board discusses golf cart regulations in Sun City

Village Manager David Johnson presented a board discussion only an agenda item on the use of golf carts on roads outside Sun City and Regency Square.

“The current Village code permits golf cards on the roadway network within Del Webb’s Sun City and the streets and roadways within Regency Square development to include Regency Parkway and Farm Hill Drive.”
