A Christmas blend of song, dance, and comedy

By Brad Wagner

SUN CITY — The holidays are here. It’s the time that families get together, we give thanks for what we have, and the hope of goodwill toward all men is more in focus than any other time in the year. It is also the time to relax, enjoy the festive spirit, and have fun.

This year, on Dec. 7, Sun City residents can be guests at a performance called Christmastime in Ireland. This extravaganza of Irish music, dancing, and humor will whisk the audience away to the Emerald Isle. This performance is home to some of Ireland’s greatest entertainers including Tony Kenny, George Casey, Kathy Durkin, the Jury’s Irish Dancers, and The Dublin Trinity Band.

“Tony Kenny has earned the award of entertainer of the year in Ireland three times. He starred in Jury’s Irish Cabaret in Dublin for over 25 years. Many Americans know Jury’s Irish Cabaret from when they have taken bus tours to Ireland. It is Ireland’s longest running show—been going for over forty years,” said Vince Mitchell of CMI Entertainment, Inc.

CMI is bringing Christmastime in Ireland to Sun City so residents can be overjoyed at Ireland’s many wonders.

“I know that [the] people of Sun City are going to love his performance,” Mitchell said.

George Casey is known as Ireland’s King of Blarney. His humor is tailored in such a way so that all people can come and be entertained.

“He wanted everyone to be able to attend: children, a priest, a nun, a rabbi, anybody. He is [a] very clean [performance] and funny,” Mitchell said.

Christmastime in Ireland will also showcase The Dublin Trinity Band. The Jury’s Irish Dancers will amaze with their musical precision and classic Irish dance. Kathy Durkin, from County Cavan, has won the Irish Recording Artist of the Year three times. She has traveled all over the world, focusing on Europe and the United States extensively.

“[Sun City Residents] will cry with laughter . . . and come away being thoroughly entertained . . . [while] being transported back to Ireland for an afternoon,” Mitchell said.
