Single Women’s Luncheon

A Valentine’s Luncheon will be held 12-3 p.m. February 4 in the Community Room of the American Community Bank on Rt. 47 and will feature our own Sun City resident, Kathy Ryan, who, along with Judy Abrams, founded “Neighborhood Angels.” When we find ourselves needing additional help, Kathy will explain how their volunteer group offers assistance with everything from transportation to socialization, even helping understand insurance statements.

While enjoying a delicious lunch, we will have a fun time conversing at our tables. All single women are welcome, but we need to have your reservations no later than January 28. Long-time Huntley residents showcased

At 1:30 p.m. Sunday, February 22 at Cosman Center, Huntley Park District, Willow Room, The Huntley Historical Society will hold its annual movie and popcorn afternoon. This year previous oral history tapings of Betty Zirk, Boots Parisek, and Alice and Al Jordi will be shown for the first time. Please come to share in their memories and stories about growing up in Huntley. This program is free and open to the public, and we welcome all of the groups our honored guests are members of in this area. For more information, please call Ronda at 224-654-2070.


Looking back at Marshall Fields

The February meeting of the Sun City Historians will be held at Meadow View Lodge on the 20th at1 p.m. Our guest speaker is Gayle Soucek, who will give us a warm look back at a Chicago institution that we all remember – Marshall Fields – the Walnut Room – the Christmas Tree (the long lines to see it). Come join us for a wonderful look at our past.


Soup Night

The Scandinavian American Club will have Soup Night on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 6 p.m. in the Oak/Elm Rooms at Meadow View Lodge. Soups, beverages, bread and butter will be provided by the Club, members are to bring desserts. Call Joan Souchek, 847-669-7055, by Feb. 16 for reservations. There is no charge for members but $5 per person for non-member Sun City residents or guests of members.


The Theatre Company of Sun City Youth Scholarship Program

The Theatre Company of Sun City is pleased to announce thattheir YouthScholarship Program is now receiving applicationsfor 2015. The Companyagain has recommended that a portion of their annual budget be dedicated toa scholarship fund directed toward helping young people in the performingarts.

The program is designed to help defer the costs of theater related training.It is assumed that such training would be directed toward developing skillsin all of the theatrical arts. Awards are open to any full-time high schoolor elementary school student with the requirement that he or she be arelative of a Sun City Huntley resident. Equal consideration is given to allstudents who apply. Completed applications must be receivedno later thanApril, 18, 2015.

Award recipients will be contacted by letter and awards will be sentdirectly to the organization providing the training with the recipient’sname on the check. Recipients will be reviewed by the Sun City TheatreCompany scholarship committee and approved by the Theatre Company’s Board ofDirectors.

Deadline to enroll in health insurance Feb 15
