Car accident leaves Sun City resident unscathed

By Dwight Esau

SUN CITY – A 74-year-old Sun City man walked away unhurt on July 13 after the car he was driving swerved off Del Webb Boulevard and onto landscaped grounds next to the Wildflower Lake picnic area and restroom building.

Huntley Police Deputy Chief Mike Klunk said the man lost control of his 2008 Lincoln MBX about 4 p.m. as he drove northeast approaching the lake area. His car jumped the curb, destroyed two trees near the picnic parking area, damaged the turf next to a driveway, and stopped in a grassy area near the Wildflower Lake dock. Klunk added that the car’s front end was damaged but the vehicle was drivable.

The driver, who was alone in the car, was not charged with any violation and was unhurt.
