My decision, reasoning, and action

By Norma Thompson

Since I was already 82, I wanted quality of life to the years that remained, and I did not want to go through the terrible side effects of chemo. I started praying to the Lord for His guidance. This all occurred as I took my break from the paper last year. After much prayer and reading the Psalms, I felt the Lord was saying to me that He had given me the gifts of teaching and writing and still wanted to use me to help people get well and stay well. In my own heart, I knew I would be finished as far as my testimony was concerned if I went the medical route of drugs; in fact, I could even lose my life because chemo not only kills the cancer cells but destroys the immune system, the one system for overcoming disease. All of us are aware that cancer is still the number twokiller and everyone is looking for a cure. I believe it will not be found in treatments outside the body.

My course of action:

After the Lord answered my prayer, I knew I had to commit to practicing exactly what I teach. The following is the way I have been eating for nearly a year:

β€” Raw and steamed vegetables
β€” Small amount of fresh fruit
β€” Moderate amount of protein foods (eggs, raw cheese wild caught fish, grass fed meats)
β€” Raw nuts and seeds
β€” Large amounts of natural fats as coconut oil, flax oil, olive oil
β€” Lots of green drinks and fresh vegetable juice;
β€” Many herbal supplements

The following are items I stay away from:

β€” All sweets and sugars including soda, diet soda and fruit juice
β€” All grains
β€” About all packaged and canned foods that are processed and have many chemicals
β€” Farm-raised fish, conventional meat and dairy (that have antibiotics and hormones and the animals are fed corn, grain, and soy); pasteurized milk & dairy

Even though we all should be eating this way, probably it will not happen unless we get scared or desperate. Yet I believe the choice is ours and not everyone should probably take this stand. One needs to be knowledgeable in nutrition. I would suggest that people who accept my philosophy enroll in my classes next summer that will be on Mondays at Heartland Bank for 12 weeks, June, July & August. Many will not have the willpower for such a way of life; others accept the medical philosophy or want a quick fix with medicine. The choice is yours.

Next time: I will share my progress.
